چکیده

We discussed the value of biexponential diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in predicting the differentiation degree of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Biexponential DWI was applied to 33 cases of nonkeratinizing NPC, which were classified into differentiated group (14 cases) and undifferentiated group (19 cases). The two groups were compared with respect to DWI parameters (ADCstand, ADCslow, ADCfast, Ffast). ADCstand, ADCslow, ADCfast and Ffast values of differentiated group were 0.920±0.131×10-3 mm2/s, 0.680±0.115×10-3 mm2/s, 22.3±13.9 mm2/s and 0.316±0.078, respectively; the corresponding values of undifferentiated group were 0.952±0.203×10-3 mm2/s, 0.672±0.116×10-3 mm2/s, 17.8±20.3 mm2/s and 0.299±0.120, respectively; ADCfast was significantly different between the two groups (P<0.05). The sensitivity and specificity of ADCfast in predicting the differentiation degree of NPC was 85.7% and 63.2%, respectively. ADCfast has a certain value in predicting the differentiation degree of primary NPC.

Dynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

Intravoxel Incoherent Motion Diffusion Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Differentiation Between Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma and Lymphoma at the Primary Site

OBJECTIVE The aim of the study was to investigate the utility of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) for differentiating nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) from lymphoma. METHODS Intravoxel incoherent motion-based parameters including the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), pure diffusion coefficient (D), pseudodiffusion coefficient (D*), perf...

بررسی ارزش Diffusion Weighted Imaging در تصاویر MRI برای تشخیص سرطان پروستات

Background: Prostate cancer is the third leading cause of death and is the most common cause of cancer in elderly men. Differentiation of active tumor from edematous regions of glioblastoma multiform tumor in diffusion MR images using heterogeneity analysis method

Background: Due to intrinsic heterogeneity of cellular distribution and density within diffusion weighted images (DWI) of glioblastoma multiform (GBM) tumors, differentiation of active tumor and peri-tumoral edema regions within these tumors is challenging. The aim of this paper was to take advantage of the differences among heterogeneity of active tumor and edematous regions within the gliobla...
